A mother and her daughter confront the intimidation of teen peer pressure and the emotionally brutalizing social rituals of high school. A well-adjusted teenager becomes depressed when she's ostracized by her friends at school. Her mother must help her daughter regain her confidence.
The film really inflects horrible social situations in high school. In the movie, Vanessa confronts the intimidation of teen peer pressure and the emotionally brutalizing social rituals of high school. Her best friend, Stacy, was jealous of her cleverness and beauty. She and Nikki split some malicious rumors about her. And soon others students bullied Vanessa, too. Emily, seemed to be an outsider, tried to persuade V not going back to the clique, but V really didn’t want to lose her friendship with Stacy. Again and again, V was hurt by S. Vanessa couldn't stand for it at the beginning. She chopped off her hair, and even tried to commit a suicide. V is so strong, beautiful and smart. S and N hate her for it and V makes them unsecure, so they isolates her. It's ridiculous that the teen peer just believed the rumors blindly without thinking. It’s also very terrible that teen peer just follow the others blindly. They are so immature in relationships with people that they just bullied or emotionally brutalized people for fun, without thinking much. V's mother, Barbara, tried to help her solve the problem. But talking to Stacy's mother, printing out the malicious comments and asking for punishment to those people who cyber-bullied her daughter is making things worse. It just strained her daughter's friendship with Stacy and other people. Actually, such kind of problem can only be solved when V regains her confidence and has her own clique. In the end of the movie, V said to S 'You know all you done this year made my life like living in hell. You are so fake. You are annoying, you are rude and you just, you lie all the time. You just like Niki, but even worse. Gosh, you make people feel so bad about themselves, Stacy. You have a problem. You live in your own little world. You are pathetic. You know what, I feel really sorry for you.' She said to S bravely "You have nothing that I want", and she won everybody's applause. Yes, why should we chop off our hair, destroy our body, and dump down our schoolwork for someone like that? Just live your own life. Don't be so vulernable and coward, otherwise others would like to bully you. Find your trust friends and don’t even join that kind of clique if you are not a person like them. As a teacher or parents, take wise actions.
